Dr. Franz B. Humer is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at INSEAD.
In this role, he works with the Dean and the other members of the INSEAD Board to oversee and ensure the continued success of the school's strategy.
Previously, Dr. Humer served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd until March 2008. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of F. Hoffmann La Roche Ltd. In July 2008, Dr. Humer, who had been a Non-Executive Director of Diageo plc since 2005, succeeded Lord Blyth as Chairman.
He was a member of the INSEAD International Council and the Swiss National Council from 1995 to 2006. Additionally, Dr. Humer was formerly Chief Operating Director of Glaxo Holdings plc and has held a number of other non-executive directorships, including Chairman of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries.
Dr. Humer, who is Swiss and Austrian by nationality, received his Doctor of Law from the University of Innsbruck and his MBA from INSEAD in 1971. He is also a member of several professional associations, including the European Roundtable of Industrialists and the JPMorgan Chase International Council, the International Advisory Board of Allianz SE and the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children Board.
Dr. Humer succeeded Cees van Lede who will continue to serve on the Advisory Council of the Board.
